Music, it’s universal. Everyone listens to it. So why not listen to the music you like live at Summerfest or Warped Tour?

Summerfest

11 days, 11 stages, over 700 bands. Where at? Summerfest 2009. The Summerfest grounds are in Milwaukee WI, right on the lake. Summerfest is a music festival where bands play a few sets of songs over the course of the day. It begins June 25 and ends July 5.

Sophomore Will Friedman, who attended said, “Everybody was relaxed there and the energy they gave off was great.”

Some bands that are headliners for the nights are Rise Against June 25; The Offspring, June 26; Saving Abel, June 27; Earth, Wind and Fire, June 30; No Doubt with Paramore, July 2; Kevin Rudolf, July 5.

Some of the attractions other than music include the sky glider, fireworks and souvenir shops. The glider is a chairlift that takes people from one side of the grounds to another. Also, there are kiosks where people can buy concert apparel.

The entrance fee is $8 from noon to 4 p.m. on weekdays and $15 after 4p.m and on weekends.

There are many hotels within walking distance of the Summerfest grounds such as The Pfister Hotel and the Hilton Milwaukee City Center.

Concertgoers can take the Summerfest Shuttle down to the grounds from the hotels.

The festival website supplies information concerning directions on how to get there, admissions, merchandise and other Summerfest events.

Warped Tour

Warped Tour is another concert festival coming to a town near you. On Thursday, July 30, Warped Tour will be in Milwaukee, WI at the Marcus Amphitheater on the Summerfest grounds and on Saturday, August 1 at the First Midwest Bank Amphitheater.

The Warped Tour is a touring music festival.

“Warped Tour is a mecca for Alternative lovers,” senior Kyle Henning said.

The skateboarding shoe manufacturer Vans has sponsored the tour every year since 1995, it’s often referred to as the Vans Warped Tour.

Some bands that are playing at the Warped Tour in Milwaukee and in Chicago are Chiodos, Escape The Fate, Less than Jake, P.O.S., The Maine, Underoath, You Me Everyone We Know, Breathe Carolina and many more. Tickets are available on the website and range from anywhere between $10-$45.
